Abstract

897,004. Earth-moving equipment. CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO. March 14, 1961, No. 9249/61. Class 68(1). A dozer blade mounting in which the blade 11 pivotally supported at the ends 15 on push arms 12 can be turned to a limited extent about the longitudinal axis of the mounting by varying the length of the brace 17 of two tilt braces 16, 17 between the blade 11 and the arms 12 includes means which more satisfactorily distributes the stresses in diagonal braces 22, 23 extending between the arms 12 and the blade 11 when the blade is canted as described. The means consists of a torsion bar 30 rigidly or rotatably mounted in bearing lugs 33 that are pivotally as at 34 or rigidly secured to the back of the blade. The braces 22, 23 are coupled through ball-andsocket joints 31 directly to the lugs 33 in which the bar is rigidly secured, or to dependant arms rigid with the bar when the bar is rotatably mounted in lugs rigid with the blade.
