[Also in Group II] A threshing machine includes a separator for the threshed products comprising a generally tubular foraminous or gridded drum 56 having an inlet 40 to receive the grain products and having rotary members 28, 74 which serve to throw the grain radially through the drum over approximately 360 degrees and to pass straw axially to an outlet 104. As shown, an elevator 42 feeds the cut crop to the inlet 40. The member 28 comprises a fan having a central disc 48 which prevents grain stalks from entering the fan axially. The disc has serrated radial bars 50 thereon, which agitate the grain and prevent bunching. The fan blades 30 thresh the grain and force it through a conical part 60 of the grid 56. Any grain not passed through the part 60 passes, with the straw, into the cylindrical part 76 where a more rapidly rotating cylinder 74 having helical lines of bristles 80 thereon urges grain through the grid and the straw to a discharge outlet 104. The grain and chaff are passed by a hopper 70 to a chaffseparator 24 having a fan 170, grid 140, rotary brushes 164, and disc 160 to prevent axial flow direct to the fan. In this case the fan 170 is rotated more rapidly than the disc 160 to which the brushes 164 are attached. The disc, brushes and grid are separated by a partition 148 from the compartment containing the fan and which has a chaff-discharge outlet 176. The grain is further cleaned in a smaller unit 26 identical in construction with the chaffseparator 24, unthreshed ears being returned through a pipe 212 to the grain-inlet 40. In modifications, the members 74, 76 are frustoconical and the brushes 80 are replaced by spring tines preceded by rubber flaps.
