Abstract

1277032 Thresher and separator in combine harvester MASSEY-FERGUSON GmbH 7 July 1969 [16 Aug 1968] 39221/68 Heading A1F A cut crop threshing and separating assembly comprises a rotary drum 25 carrying a helical beater 29 extending substantially throughout the length of the drum to shift material entering on a conveyor 11 axially along the drum. A concave 26 co-operates with the beater at an end portion adjacent the input conveyor 11 forming a threshing stage and a sieve 27 co-operates with the beater at the other portion of the drum to form a separating stage. Straw, being separated from any loose grain by the sieve 27, is discharged from the drum 25 by rotating blades 34 which throw the straw clear. There may be several helical beaters which may be of an angle of approximately 45‹ to the drum axis. The beaters may have ribs 29A the planes of which make an acute angle of about 75‹ to the drum axis facing in the same direction as the axial flow of the crop, and the gap between the concave 26 and the drum may be variable at both ends.
