894,546. Toothed gearing. FALK CORPORATION. April 28, 1960, No. 14966/60. Class 80 (1). [Also in Group XXXIV] A motor-driven reduction unit 15 for driving the shaft 19 of a cooling tower fan 20, comprises a welded housing formed by a back-plate 30, a curved plate 31, and end-plates 32, 33. A removable head 34 has three lugs 39 welded thereto, to which a further plate 40 is bolted and dowelled, and a channelled section plate 37 is welded to plate 32. The input shaft 17 of unit 15 is keyed to a flexible coupling driven by, e.g. an electric motor, and a pinion 55, on the shaft meshes with a gear 57 on an intermediate shaft 58. A pinion 62 on shaft 58 meshes with a gear 63 on the output shaft 19 which carries fan 20. Specification 706,155 is referred to.
