[Class 35] [Also in Groups XXIV and XXVI] A motor unit, particularly for operating the controls of an aircraft, comprises a power output unit, including the driven member of a clutch, mounted on a base, and carrying a motor and a power transmission unit, including the driving member of the clutch, so mounted as to be readily removable from the output unit without disturbing the latter. The aircraft control (not shown) is operated through cables 16 on a reel 15 driven from motor 60 through a gear train (not shown) interconnecting pinion 44 and gear 46 and a coupling comprising teeth 50 at each end of a springy plate 49 meshing with those of a crown-wheel 20, this gearing being in a cup 40 readily detachable from the frame 13 of the output unit supported on the base 10. The coupling 50, 20 is disengageable by pulling on a control cable 23 to rotate auxiliary reel 22 and by reason of the threads 33 cause screw 31 and hence piston 53 to move to the left causing pivotal arms 54 to push plate 49 away from wheel 20. An alternative way of interrupting the drive is by a second but electromagnetically operated clutch between the motor 60 and the pinion 44 and disposed in the cup 40.
