Abstract

894,323. Finishing fabrics. HOBE, C. M. VON, [trading as MONTFORTS A. [Firm of]]. Nov. 26, 1959 [Nov. 27, 1958], No. 40163/59. Class 42 (1). A textile napping machine worker roller has a core with teasing needles mounted thereon, the needles being capable of being readily deflected, in a direction tangential to the roller, in such a manner that a tangential (with respect to the roller) force of less than 10 grams applied to the needles at their points, sufficies to deflect the needles in said direction. In one embodiment (Fig. 1) teasing needles c are secured in an elastic layer b and an elastic bedding d such that they can be readily deflected in a direction opposite to that of rotation of the roller by forces which are below the tearing-point of the fibres to be napped. In Fig. 2 the needles c are pivotally mounted on axles f arranged concentrically around the roller core a. The density of the needles may be varied over the roller surface.
