Abstract

Water-insoluble metalliferous azo-dyes are obtained on vegetable or regenerated cellulose fibres by coupling on the fibrous material an iron, cobalt, chromium, nickel, copper or manganese complex of a dye of formula <FORM:0893574/IV (c)/1> where A may be substituted by halogen atoms or nitro, alkyl, sulphonamide or alkylsulphonyl groups and R is an alkyl or phenyl group, with a diazo-compound of a primary monoamine of the benzene or anthraquinone series which is free from hydroxy or carboxy groups in the orthoposition to the amino group, or with a tetrazo compound of a diamine of the diphenyl series, the components used being free from carboxylic and sulphonic acid groups as groups imparting solubility in water. Brown to black dyeings or prints are obtained by conventional processes.
