Abstract

888,584. Vices. POLLAK, R. Jan. 27, 1960 [Feb. 2, 1959], No.3598/59. Class 61. [Also in Group XXV] A combined mounting and vice comprises a body 1 including a first jaw 11 for the vice integrally formed thereon and a second jaw 12 movably mounted thereon, a suction pad 3 at the underside of the body and means on the body for for deforming the pad so as to create a partially evacuated space between it and a non-porous supporting surface. As shown, the pad 3 covers a recess 2 in the base of a body 1. A shaft 4 journalled in the body is connected through a cranked portion 5 with a flange 6 secured to a plate moulded into the pad whereby the central portion of the pad may be raised to create a partial vacuum between the pad and the supporting surface.
