Abstract
887,363. Coating with metals. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 1, 1959 [Dec. 4, 1958], No. 39186/58. Class 82(2). [Also in Group XXXVI] Prior to coating with solder, a nickel or nickel-plated article if roughened and degreased by electro-etching. As shown; nickel strip 1 is etched in sulphuric acid bath 2, then passed through water baths 7, 8, the latter containing de-ionized water, then dried in electrically heated tube 9, coated with flux 11 by contact with roller 10, and then coated with solder by contact with roller 18 which is partially immersed in solder bath 13. The coated strip is sprayed with de-ionised water at 16 and wound on to drum 17. A suitable solder for use in the case of strip for transitor wafer supports comprises lead/tin entectic to which 1% antimony may be added.
