885,665. Transverse-flow blowers. LAING, N., and ECK, B. Dec. 6, 1957 [April 18, 1957], No. 29473/61. Divided out of 885,663. Class 110 (1). In a transverse-flow machine in which fluid is guided twice through the blades of a cylindrical rotor in a direction transverse to the rotor axis, the rotor is connected to the driving means through a connection permitting at least some universal movement, the connection providing both drive to the rotor and support for one end of it. In the arrangement shown, the shaft 11 of a driving means 10 is rigidly connected to one end of a rotor 1 and is connected by a universal coupling 14 to one end of another rotor 2. At its other end, rotor 1 carries a stub shaft supported by a self-aligning bearing of which only the rotatable part 13 is shown. Specifications 757,543, 876,611 and 885,664 also are referred to.
