Abstract

884,274. Strap fastenings. NORMALAIR Ltd. Oct. 19, 1959 [Dec. 2, 1958], No. 38775/58. Class 44. A body harness and associated ballast weights are retained and released by means comprising a substantially flat housing consisting of plates 1 and 25 having positioned therein a first rotatable cam member 12, a fixed cam follower having deformable arms 19, openings 45 provided in the front plate 25 adjacent the arms 19, and a second rotatable cam member 22 near the periphery of which in plate 25 are situated holes 40. Cam plate 12 has riveted to it a handle 15 which when rotated causes a cam flange 13 to lift the arms 19 away from the back plate 1. Hooks 42 at the ends of these arms thereby release all the buckles except buckle 4 which is attached to the back plate. A ballast weight supporting pouch may be attached to the front plate by protruberances on the pouch which are engaged by the periphery of cam plate 22. Rotation of cam plate 22 by means of handle 23 releases the pouch from the front plate.
