Abstract

883,450. Terminal blocks. ELMACO ELECTRICAL MANUF. CO. PROPRIETARY Ltd. Oct. 21, 1959 [Oct. 21, 1958; April 9, 1959], No. 35693/59. Class 38 (1). An electrical connector comprises an insulating shell 7 housing a conducting bush 8 in which wires may be secured by clamping screws 17 inserted through radially directed apertures 15 in the shell, each aperture being surrounded by a cylindrical collar 16 formed with an inwardly directed resilient lip 18 which may be deformed to permit the screw 17 to be inserted within the collar 16 and which then prevents the screw from falling out. The shell opening which receives the bush 8 is large enough at one end 10 to permit insertion of the bush and small enough at the other end 9 to prevent the bush from passing through the opening, the bush being retained in the shell by providing the latter with a resilient projection co-operable with a recess 13 in the bush; alternatively the opening 10 may have an inwardly directed resilient lip to hold the bush in position. Separate connectors, each comprising a shell and two collars, may be joined together to form a strip (Fig. 2, not shown).
