Abstract

882,729. Ionization chambers. BALDWIN INSTRUMENT CO. Ltd., SYKE, G., and JAMES, W. T. Oct. 12, 1959 [July 28, 19581, No. 24267/58. Class 39(1) [Also in Group XL(b)] Ionization chamber 32 and radio-active source 44 of a reflected-radiation film thickness measuring gauge (see Group XL(b)) are mounted on an arm 24 which is positioned to direct the radiation at the film or at a bare roller, Figs. 6-8 (none shown) and which can be moved transversely of the film by flexible worm drive 48, see also Fig. 1 (not shown). The ionization chamber interior is maintained above ambient pressure and the reflected radiation passes to it via metal window 47.
