880,551. Window operating cranks. HAPPICH G.m.b.H., GEB. June 29, 1959 [July 5, 1958 ; Aug. 2, 1958 ; March 7, 1959], No. 22271/59. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXXII] The crank of a car window handle incorporates a rigid supporting plate 1, Fig. 4, and mounted thereon a cushion consisting of a resilient stuffing in an envelope having a flat bottom 11 and a transversely contoured upper section 10 of synthetic plastic foil, the envelope being peripherally gripped on the plate 1. As shown an undercut groove 7 is provided in the plate 1 to accommodate the seam bead 8 of the two welded edges of the base foil 11 and cover 10. In Fig. 7 the cover has a peripheral collar 19 which projects from the underside of a synthetic plastic moulding 18 welded to the upper section 10<SP>1</SP> at the edges 16. The collar 19 passes round the lateral edges of the plate 1<SP>1</SP> Rivet-like pins 14 pass through the plate 1<SP>1</SP>. In Fig. 8, the crank in the form of a plate 1<SP>11</SP> has a trough-shaped recess whose edges 2<SP>11</SP> are slightly turned over inwards and accommodates the cushion 3<SP>11</SP> consisting of a base plate 27 for the cushioning material 9 and covered by a covering 10<SP>11</SP>, the cushion 3<SP>11</SP> being supported at its edges by the plate 1<SP>11</SP> and held by resilient projecting bent tongues 20, 21 pressed out from the base plate 27 and passed through a slot 22 in the plate 1<SP>11</SP> to engage respectively with a recess in the back of the plate 1<SP>11</SP> and the front edge of the slot.
