Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0880256/IV (b)/1> in which Hal represents a halogen atom; and the preparation thereof by a process wherein in a 2-(b -R-ethyl)-3-amino-4-cyano-pyrazole, in which R represents a radical replaceable by a halogen atom, this radical is so replaced; and pharmaceutical compositions containing the products. The products are tranquillisers. 2-(b -Hydroxyethyl)-3-amino-4-cyano-pyrazole is prepared by condensing ethoxymethylene-malonitrile with b -hydroxyethyl-hydrazine.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions useful as tranquillizers containing compounds of the formula <FORM:0880256/VI/1> in which Hal represents a halogen atom, with carriers, may be in the form of tablets, dragees, solutions, suspensions and emulsions.
