877,476. Band clamps. HIGGINS, H. G. Oct. 19, 1959, No. 35377/59. Class 44. A band clamp comprises a supporting frame 1 having an elongated rigid arm 3 and a supporting member 2 arranged substantially at right angles to the arm, a pair of laterally spaced and opposed side flanges 4 extending upwardly from the supporting member 2, a cylindrical cam 7 mounted on and between the flanges 4 and arranged in clamping relationship with the upper side of the supporting member, a pressure block 9 slidably mounted on the arm 3 and having a transverse slotted opening 10 in its upper portion, a pressure screw 13 adjustably extending through the supporting member 2 and arranged in pressure applying relationship with the block, and a flexible band 15 having one end 15a extending into the opening 10 of the block and secured to the said block and arranged with its other end portion extending through the slotted opening 10, and between the cam 7 and the supporting member, the band being clamped between the cam and the upper side of the supporting member. In a modification a wire may be used in place of a flat band.
