Abstract
876,745. Gas-checks. SOC. CIVILE D'ETUDE DE PROCEDES DE SCELLEMENT. May 13, 1958 [May 29, 1957], No. 15364/58. Class 9(1). A gas-check of non-rigid material preferably plastics for cartridge-operated tools is placed at the rear of the missiles with an annular groove or recess therein facing the breech. The gas-check may be integral with a sleeve 1 fitted over the head of the missile p. Fig. 2. The annular groove 1<SP>1</SP> separates a central boss 13 from a thin lip 12, which on discharge of the missile is pressed against the bore by the propellent gases and forms a fluid-tight seal. The sleeve 1 may be omitted, in which case the gas-check is placed in abutment with the head of the missile, Fig. 7 (not shown).
