Abstract

876,370. Valves. PETERS & CO. Ltd., G. D. Nov. 27, 1958 [Dec. 13, 1957], No. 38869/57. Class 135. An electromagnetic control valve comprises a permanent ring magnet 18, a cancelling coil 16 having a soft-iron armature 3 adapted to slide vertically in a sleeve 10 of non-magnetic material, a tappet 11 arranged to be actuated by the armature 3 through a spring 12 and a coil 17 having an armature 2 provided with an extension 20, which, upon momentarily energizing coil 17, undergoes an upward movement with the armature 2 and strikes the armature 3 carrying it upwards to open the valve. The armature 3 is retained in the valve-open position by the magnet 18. When the upper coil 18 is energized the effect of the permanent magnet is cancelled, whereupon the armature 3 falls back to its original position and the valve closes.
