Abstract

875,648. Writing instrument stands. McINTYRE, J. N. Dec. 18, 1959 ,(Jan. 2, 1959], No. 242/59. Class 146(3). - Apparatus for supporting a writing instrument 10 comprises a magnet 11 embedded in a casing 12 and a magnetic member 23 adapted for attachment to the writing instrument so that the latter can be supported by force of magnetic attraction between the magnet and the magnetic member. The casing 12 may be screwed on to a wedge-shaped member 42 as shewn, or on to a weighted circular base. In a modification the casing is releasably secured to a working surface by means of a spring clip. The member 23 is a strip of springy metal bent to form almost a complete cylinder and which frictionally grips the instrument 10. A set of members 23 having different diameters may be supplied with the apparatus, those members not in use being kept in sockets in the base to which the casing 12 is fastened. The member 23 may be glued to the writing instrument.
