A screwcap closure 4 for a polythene container 1 having a spout 2 has a base wall 5 from which extends a skirt 6 within which extends a sleeve 8 having its outer surface 9 of small taper causing a wedging action when the cap is screwed on, the sleeve 8 extending axially beyond skirt 6.
