875,528. Longitudinally compressed paper &c. CLUPAX Inc. Oct. 26, 1959, No. 36268/59. Addition to 875,526. Class 96. The invention of the parent Specification is modified in that the pressure-applying cylinder 34 is rotatably mounted, and has a smooth surface for guiding the rubber belt 18 into the nip between it and the heated roller 16, lubricant, e.g. water, being sprayed at 70 between the belt 18 and the cylinder 34 to reduce friction so that the cylinder need not rotate when in use. The cylinder 34 may have fluid pressure or metal bearings.
