[Also in Group XXVIII] A rotary pump of the multiple abutment and outwardly-sliding vane-type has an inlet 54 and annular outlet conduits 44, 46 in the endplates which communicate with the undersides of the vanes and the main outlet 48. The pump provided with an accumulator D for supplying pressure fluid through passages 88 to the working chambers when they are cut off from the inlet and outlet conduits. The rotor is also provided with grooves which register with the passages 88 and are connected to the discharge conduit by means of a passage for details of which Figs. 5-13 (not shown) should be referred to. In a modification (see Figs. 14, 15 and 16, not shown), the vanes are replaced by balls which are mounted in a rotor adapted to be rotated about a pintle. The pump is supplied with oil from a reservoir by way of a Venturi tube and recirculates part of the oil to the inlet through a return nozzle. The discharge conduit is provided with a filter and check valve. The rotor is surrounded by a cam whose eccentricity can be varied by fluid pressure which is fed through a control valve and acts in opposition to the spring-loading on a control slide. Pressure from an accumulator is fed to the cylinders when the balls therein have reached the outermost radial limit, the accumulator being re-charged through a suitable port.
