874,606. Centreboards ; rudders. BERGE, J. M. A. C. Feb. 12, 1960, No. 5062/60. Class 114. A centreboard 1 or rudder 1a comprises an upright flexible sheet 1, Fig. 3, of material extending through a slot in each of two horizontal vertically spaced apart guide members 2, 3, the slot in the upper guide member 2 being biconcave and the slot in the lower guide member 3 being biconvex. This arrangement enables the sheet 1, under the thrust F created by the water, to bear against the edges 4b and 5a of the slots, which edges are located on either side of the plane of the sheet, and to adapt of its own accord a curved shape corresponding to the curvature (in the same direction) of the cages 4b and 5a of the slots.
