Abstract

The invention comprises azabicyclohexane derivatives of the general formula (I) <FORM:0872300/IV (b)/1> (wherein R is an alkyl group having from one to five carbon atoms, Ar is a phenyl radical which may be substituted by halogen atoms or alkyl or alkoxy groups having one to four carbon atoms, or Ar2 is an o-biphenylene radical), together with their preparation by reacting a diaryldiazomethane of the formula Ar2CN2 with an N-alkylmaleimide of the formula: <FORM:0872300/IV (b)/2> and if necessary heating the resulting pyrazoline. This heating may take place concurrently with the first step, when the compound (I) is isolated directly. Examples describe the preparation of 6,6-diphenyl-3-methyl -, 6,6 - diphenyl - 3 - ethyl -, 6,6 - bis - (p-methoxyphenyl)-3-ethyl-, 6,6-bis(p-methoxyphenyl-3-methyl-, 6,6-o-biphenylene-3-methyl-, 6,6-bis-(p-tolyl)-3-methyl- and 6,6-bis-(p-chlorophenyl) - 3 - ethyl - 2,4 - dioxo - 3 - azabicyclo [3.1.0] hexane. Diphenyldiazomethane, bis - (p - methoxyphenyl)diazomethane and 9-diazofluorene were obtained from benzophenone hydrazone, p,p1-dimethoxybenzophenone hydrazone and fluorenone hydrazone respectively.
