Abstract

871,304. Mitre joint for hollow members. GRAJECKI, U. March 16, 1959 [April 19, 1958], No. 8970/59. Class 20(2) [Also in Group XXVIII] Two members 1, 2 of hollow section, e.g. channel, are joined at right-angles by an angle member 3 enclosed in the members and secured in position by wedges 4, 6 driven transversely of the channels. The arms 5, 7 of the member 3 are tapered towards their junction with one another and also across their width. The angle member 15, Fig. 2, is of angle crosssection and the members 2 being joined have a closed cross-section, and openings 22 are formed in them for driving the wedges 19 longitudinally of the members 2. In a modification the wedges are driven by screws mounted on the angle member. The angle member and wedges may be curved in cross-section and the arms may be slit longitudinally.
