Abstract

870,501. Seed sowing machines. MASSEYFERGUSON Inc. Oct. 14, 1957 [Oct. 17, 1956], No. 31974/57. Class 6(1). [Also in Group XXXI] An agricultural implement such as a seed sower is provided with two gauge wheels 58 each mounted on an axle forming part of an arm 57 attached to a shaft 53 extending through a hollow tool bar to which is attached implements 42 and seed sowing apparatus 43. The wheels 58 are thus connected to act in unison. The implement is attached to a tractor power lift mechanism (see Group XXXI) so that the weight of the implement is carried by the power lift. The lift links 11, 12 are arranged so that the implement may tilt according to the ground travelled over by the wheels, 58. The wheels 58 are kept in contact with the ground by their own weight and downward movement is limited by means of an adjustable rod 61. In a modification a spring is mounted on the rod 61 to force the wheels into contact with the ground.
