Abstract

868,055. Valves. DIKKERS & CO. N.V., G. Sept. 5, 1957 [Sept. 11, 1956], No. 28109/57. Class 135. A valve of which the spindle 8 lies at an acute angle to aligned inlet and outlet connections 2, 3 has the closure member 9 of greater area than the minimum area of the inlet and the housing enlarged at 11 so that, with the valve member raised from its seat 10 by an amount to provide a flow passage area between its rim and the seat at least equal to the minimum area of the inlet, the passage area in the plane of the closure member between the rim of the latter and the housing is greater than the minimum area of the inlet. The spindle is sealed by a conventional gland 16 and by a bellows 12 secured at one end to a fitting 13 carried by the valve member and at the other end to a cap 15 welded into the valve bonnet 7. A leakage detector may be connected between the two seals.
