Abstract
866,904. Flexible hose. JOHN BULL RUBBER CO. Ltd., and AUTOMATIC PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. March 10, 1958 [March 18, 1957], No. 8849/57. Class 99(2). A flexible hose comprises a tube of rubber 5 or similar material reinforced by a pair of braided sleeves 7 and 9 of highly polymeric polymethylene terephthalate and modified cellulose (e.g. rayon) respectively. As shown the sleeve 7 of polymethylene terephthalate is applied directly over the tube 5 and the rayon sleeve 9 is applied over the sleeve 7 with rubber paste therebetween which is forced between the interstices of sleeve 7 so as to adhere to tube 5. An outer covering of rubber-like material is applied over sleeve 9. The sleeves 7 and 9 are braided from pairs of side by side filaments which are in thread or strip form, the angle between the filament and the long axis of the tube being between 53 and 56 degrees.
