Abstract

774,414. Hose couplings. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. Aug. 15. 1955 [Aug. 20, 1954], No. 24240/54. Addition to 581,180. Class 99(1) In a hose coupling unit as described in the parent Specification comprising a flexible hose 1 having an inner layer of rubber or like material and a layer 2 of reinforcing material a tubular insert 4 and an outer sleeve 10 wherein the reinforcing material is clamped between the insert and sleeve and the insert has a tubular projection 6 with a wall of tapering section the wall being positioned in a cylindrical slit in the inner layer of rubber the tubular projection is cemented or otherwise adhesively fluid-tightly secured within the cylindrical slit in the inner layer of rubber. The projection may have one or both its sides cemented or otherwise adhesively secured in fluid-tight manner within the slit. The hose is of rubber or synthetic rubber-like material and the reinforcing layer 2 is of braided wire of high tensile strength.
