864,427. Vehicle power steering. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT. May 5, 1958 [May 3, 1957], No. 14363/58. Class 79(5). In a hydraulic servo steering system the control valve 21 Fig. 2 is actuated by floating movements of a pivot pin 7 supporting a crank arm 2, 3 Fig. 1 connected between the steering box and the drag links 6, the pin 7 is supported at one end on a spherical bearing 9 so that it is free to float about a central point 12 and is located at the other end by a spherical bearing 16 mounted at one end of a sleeve 15 having a spherical articulating joint 17 in the casing 10. Movements of the pin 7 resulting from steering forces are magnified at the upper end of the sleeve 15 and are transmitted to the control valve slide 19 through a bush 18 and guide 19<SP>1</SP>. The servo-. motor comprises a double piston 30 in opposite cylinders 26 and actuating a pin 33 on the arm 3 through a slot 31 and bush 32.
