Abstract

863,733. Hydraulically operated cranes. KIRSTEN, E. April 30, 1959 [Sept. 25, 1958], No. 14839/59. Class 78 (4). A jib member 2 is moved longitudinally within a member 1 of upwardly open cross-section by means of an hydraulically-operated system, such as a jack 9, also housed within the member 1. As shown, the crane hoists by means of a jack 12 working in combination with a pulley system 13, 14, luffs by means of a jack 8 pivoting the jib about an axis 3, and slews by means of a jack-operated rack and pinion 7 driving a toothed annulus 5. The jib member 2 is slidable between rollers 16 and 17 which are mounted in the lower and upper parts of the jib respectively.
