Abstract
862,303. Hydraulic accumulators. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd., and WILLIAMS, P. G. Feb. 13, 1959 [March 3, 1958], No. 6746/58. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group XXXII] In an hydraulic accumulator compressed air in the upper part of an enclosure 1, 2 is separated from fluid in the lower part by a flexible diaphragm 13. In operation an increase in pressure in a fluid system which is connected to the device through a pipe 3 causes a valve 5 to lift from its seat 4 to admit fluid to the chamber below the diaphragm 13, When the pressure in the fluid falls, the valve 5 is reseated by a spring 6 and fluid leaks back into the pipe 3 through small orifices 9. A perforated rigid partition 12 limits the deflection of the diaphragm 13. Compressed air is admitted to the device through a valve 10. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 799,688.
