Abstract

861,647. Cylindrical journal bearings. PARKINSON COWAN Ltd. Dec. 7, 1959 [Dec. 15, 1958], No. 40423/58. Class 12 (1). A shaft 10 of a gas meter is journalled in bearings 2 each comprising a sleeve 4 having a cylindrical inner surface, an outwardly turned flange 8 at one end thereof, and a projection 6 on its outer surface which prevents rotation of the bearing when it is mounted in the end plate 12 or 14. The bearings are located axially by members 16, 18 which are secured to the shaft 10 by split pins 20. In a modification, a bearing 22, Fig. 3, is moulded in position on its associated member 30 and comprises a flange 28 at each end of a sleeve portion 24 having a projection 26 on its outer surface. The bearing may be split axially at one or two points on its periphery.
