860,759. Fluid actuation of switches; switches held set and freed mechanically. BLACK AUTOMATIC CONTROLS Ltd., and BLACK, A. June 3, 1958 [June 3, 1957], 17555/57. Class 38 (5). A switch responding to a decrease in pressure comprises a diaphragm 4 connected by a pin 9 to an arm 10 of a bell-crank lever 11, whose other arm 13 engages arm 14 of a second lever 15 to operate buttons 17 of microswitches 2 . . . 2d. An externally-adjustable compression spring 20 and thimble 19 maintains contact between the arms 13, 14, removes backlash at pivots 12, 18 and can preset the pressure needed to operate the switches. The lever 15 is held in its operated position by a spring- loaded detent 23 engaging arm 16 and having a handle 23a for manual resetting. Members 13, 14 and 17 may be modified to operate for an increase of pressure, and sequential operation of the microswitches may be obtained by varying the clearance between the buttons 17 and the arm 14.
