Abstract

A method of manufacturing electrically conductive articles comprises preparing a paste of polyvinyl chloride resin which has a mean grain size of at least 40 microns and a specific viscosity of at least 0,43, a liquid plasticizer therefore and up to 10 parts of conducting carbon black per 100 parts of resin, using mixing and manipulative methods for the production of the paste which substantially retain the grain size of the resin and the carbon black on the outside of the grains at least up to a final gelling step, and forming the article during such a gelling step. The carbon black may be acetylene black or channel black, and the plasticizer may be tritolyl phosphate. The compositions may also comprise stabilizers, e.g. dibutyl tin laurate, pigments, lubricants and surface active agents, e.g. condensation products of long chain alcohols with ethylene oxide. The compositions may be used in the manufacture of conveyer belts and tiles.
