858,063. Winding yarns. AUMANN, P. May 17, 1957, No. 15763/57. Class 120 (2). [Also in Group XVI] Means for winding at uniform tension yarn supplied at constant speed comprises an eddycurrent coupling 6, 10 with adjustable gearing 3, 4 between it and the reel 2. In this way, the arrangement can be used for winding rolls of differing average diameters. The part 10 may comprise a ring of magnets 11 arranged so that positive and negative poles alternate: the other part consists of a disc of copper or aluminium with an iron ring 7. The torque may be varied by adjusting the air-gap by a rack 13 and worm wheel 14 or when the magnets are electromagnets by changing the exciting current.
