Abstract

857,866. Wheels or rollers. PHILLIPS & CO. Ltd., J. A. Oct. 14, 1958 [Oct. 18, 1957], No. 32589/57. Classes 12 (1) and 144 (1). A roller skate or like wheel body is made of a plastic of low coefficient of friction such as nylon and is rotatably mounted on bearings in the form of a non-rotatable bush or bushes of metal or nylon surrounding an axle. Such bushes may be coated with a, plastic of lower coefficient of friction such as polytetrafluoroethylene. In the wheel shown the body a has axial bores of relatively large diameter extending inwardly from each face connected by a central bore of smaller diameter. Two identical bushes d fit in the body, one of them occupying one of the larger bores and the central small bore in the body and the other occupying the other large bore and having a portion of the smaller diameter extending to form a spacer between the wheel and the axle's hanger support h. Securing of the wheels to the axle e is achieved by the head f at one end and the nut g at the other. Wheels of other forms than that shown are also described in the Specification, viz. one with an H-shaped bush consisting of a flanged cylinder and washer, and one with a pair of flanged frusto-conical bushes.
