Abstract

857,848. Tool-holders; milling-cutters. O.K. TOOL CO. Inc. Oct. 16, 1959, No. 35101/59. Class 83 (3). A milling or other cutting tool with an adjustable cutting-bit, comprises a holder having a recess with an outlet through each of two adjacent faces, a clamp in the recess having two parts for gripping a cutting-bit which projects beyond both of said faces, means being provided for adjusting one of said parts transversely, and means for clamping the parts together with the bit therebetween. A tool such as a milling-cutter 1 is provided with a radial cylindrical recess 2 for a tool-bit 5. The recess breaks into both the edge and side faces of the body, and the bit is held between a pair of semi-cylindrical gripping members 3, 4. The member 4 is provided with a step 7 for locating the bit in its side or face projection, and the member 3 has a step 6, Fig. 4, to give the required radial projection of the bit. The latter is adjustable by a screw 13 with an end 14 bearing on the base of the recess. The bit is clamped by a wedge-member 9 engaging a flat on one side of the member 4.
