Abstract

857,397. Blasting detonators. SCHAFFLERGLOSSL, H., and SCHAFFLER-GLOSSL, J., [trading as SCHAFFLER & CO.]. Oct. 7, 1958 [April 24, 1958], No. 31978/58. Class 9(1). A short delay detonator comprises a delay tube 2 housed in a detonator sleeve 1 and containing a striker to initiate the primary charge of the detonator, a charge to operate the striker being placed between the delay charge 8 and the head 6 of the striker. The tube 2 is preferably made of metal and has a frustoconical end with a bore into which extends the pin 4 of the striker. The initiating charge 7 which drives the striker into the primer 3 is preferably lead azide. The charge 7 may be wholly or partly housed in the striker head 6 or in a separate cylinder. The outer end of the bore 5 may be frusto-conical.
