A vehicle floor 5 has a sheet metal member 6 secured along at least one side edge and has apertures 9 for accommodating hinge parts 8 on which the side board 10 is carried. The other part of the hinge is carried by the member 6 which extends the full length of the vehicle. Apertures may be provided in the member 6 to allow material entering the aperture 9 to fall away.
