856,107. Lifting dogs. HOLLEBONE, J. E. March 13, 1959 [March 13, 1958], No. 8123/58. Class 78 (4). Bush-grubbing tongs comprise a pair of levers 1, 2, pivoted to each other at a point 3 intermediate their ends and each provided with jaws situated at points on either side of the pivot so that an uprooting force applied to the levers increases the gripping force of the jaws. As shown, the levers 1, 2, are pivotally connected to links 5, 6 suspended by a shackle 12 from a beam 14. The gripping force is thereby increased when the beam 14 is caused to move upwards by an hydraulic power lift of a tractor. A lifting handle may be provided. The jaws may be serrated or covered with material such as rubber.
