Abstract

856,064. Traps. McALPINE & CO. Ltd., and McALPINE, J. E. March 2, 1959 [March 24, 1958], No. 9300/58. Class 33. A liquid sealing trap 11 is provided with a non-return air valve 10 normally closed but opening automatically for suction in the trap to prevent gurgling therein. The valve 10 may be a cylindrical casing 16 having a stem 17, connected to the top of the outlet leg 14 of the trap 11, and a bore 18 with a truncated conical valve seat 19 at the top on which rests a non- return valve member 20 and open to the air at the foot. The non-return valve may also be used with a bottle trap. The trap and the valve casing may be of plastic, but the valve member and its seat are preferably of metal.
