Abstract

855,869. Manually actuated valves. PEGLERS Ltd. April 4, 1957 [Oct. 30, 1956], No. 33147/56. Class 135. A water tap comprises an elbow member having a water supply connection 11 and a depending discharge nozzle 10 and a sleeve member 12 slidable on the nozzle by and retained thereon by a retaining nut 13. An orificed partition in the nozzle provides on its lower face a seat 21 for a main or jumper valve 20 supported on an internal shoulder 24 of the sleeve and on its upper face a conical seat 19 for a supplementary valve 18 which by its stem 22 is supported in a normally open position by the jumper valve. A screwthreaded operating member 26 which engages a nozzle closure disc 28, on rotation, axially moves the sleeve to open and close the tap. Removal of the retaining nut 13 together with the member 26 from the sleeve permits the rewashering of the jumper valve, the supplementary valve 18 falling on to its seat 19 to close the tap.
