Abstract

855,221. Suction cleaner nozzles. EUREKA WILLIAMS CORPORATION. April 16, 1959 [Nov. 3, 1958], No. 12947/59. Class 8(1). The elongated mouth 12a, Fig. 4, of a suction cleaning nozzle 10 is substantially closed by a plurality of straight spring wires 22, 24, 26, Fig. 5, arranged in planes parallel to that of the mouth 12a and along which are stringed cylindrical heads 36 which when at rest abut beads on adjacent wires but when subjected to suction vibrate sufficiently to allow passage of air into the nozzle body. As shown wire 24 is off-set inwardly with respect to wires 22, 26 and the ends of each wire are freely supported in vertical slots 28, 30, 32 in the end walls 35 of the nozzle body. Vertical adjustment of brushes 20 slidably mounted in slots 18 formed by sides 14a of nozzle lips 14 and flanges 16 of a sole plate 12 is effected by a screw 70 having its threads in engagement with ends of arms 68 of U-shaped members 52 straddling one end of each brush and pivoted to bosses 64. The brushes are biased downwardly by flat springs 58.
