Abstract

854,290. Insulating railway rails. TRAVERSES EN BETON ARME, SYSTEME VAGNEUX S.A., DES, and SERAFIN, M. A. April 18, 1957 [May 3, 1956], No. 12766/57. Class 104 (2). In a rail support and anchorage comprising a concrete sleeper having threaded sockets with insulating lining for holding down balls which pass through deformable clamping members provided with inner end portions which bear on and transmit the clamping pressure to the rail flange and resilient insulating pads disposed between the rail and the sleeper and the outer end portions of the clamping member and the sleeper, the top of the sleeper has local recesses into which the insulating pads extend to provide insulating recesses for locating the outer end portions of the clamping members. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 7 an insulating sole-plate 8 of rubber or a similar plastic material is placed between the rail 3 and the concrete sleeper 1 and is. provided on each side with extensions 9 which are arranged between the heel 13 of the rail clip 6 and the sleeper 1, are apertured at 10 to receive the holding down bolt 4 and are so shaped to engage recesses 7 in the top of the sleeper 1. The upper and lower faces of the central portion of the sole plate 8 are fluted at 15. The holding down bolt 4 engages in a suitably shaped insulating sheath 16 embedded in the sleeper 1. In a modification, Fig. 12 (not shown), the shaped insulating extensions are formed separately from the sole plate. In a further modification shown in Fig. 14 the separate insulating extensions are provided with a portion 20 which is apertured to receive the holding down bolts 4 and is of such a length to extend up to the sole plate. Openings 12a are provided in the end walls of the recesses 12, receiving the heel 13 of the clip 6, to permit water drainage. Specification 782,180 is referred to.
