Abstract

854,283. Pallets for handling and stacking loads. CLARK, W. Jan. 14, 1958 [Oct. 16, 1956], No. 31421/56. Class 78 (4). The apertures 5 in a stacking box pallet for receiving the tines of a lift truck are provided within the depth of the lower frame members 3 of the pallet. In the box pallet illustrated the lower frame members 3 comprise upwardly facing channel-section members, and registering slots 5 formed in the opposite side members are joined by downwardly facing channel section members 6. Pillars 1 joining the lower frame to the upper frame extend beyond the upper frame to provide portions taking into corresponding sockets in the base of a similar pallet stacked above, and further vertical posts 8 are secured to the cross members 6. The channel-section members 6 may be replaced by tubes of rectangular or circular section and the pallet as a whole may be constructed of circular section tubes. The sides and base of the pallet may be clad with metal, wire mesh, or expanded metal.
