Abstract

852,765. Cleaning textile spinning &c. machines PARKS-CRAMER CO. Jan. 6, 1959 [Aug. 28, 1958; Sept. 8, 1958], No. 474/59. Class 120(3). A travelling suction-cleaning apparatus, which removes lint, fly, and dust from a room wherein textiles machines, e.g., spinning frames, looms and knitting machines, are arranged in one or more rows, comprises a suction blower which is traversed over the machines so that a floor suction nozzle at its lowest portion removes lint &c., from the floor around and between the machines to a collection chamber from which it may be periodically discharged. The suction current adjacent the floor may oscillate transversely of the general movement thereof, and one or more additional suction nozzles may traverse, and thereby remove lint &c. from machine parts. Fig. 10 shows a floor cleaning nozzle 153 and additional nozzles 151 and 152, attached to ducting 150 and 43 along which the lint is drawn by a suction blower. Lint is blown into a collection chamber 60 which has a partly foraminated wall 62 to permit the blown air to flow therethrough. A stationary collecting unit into which the lint, etc. is finally received and stored comprises at least one waste receptacle C, Figs. 2 and 4, disposed adjacent the path of chamber 60, and is connected with a suction source via duct 20, the proximal portions of both the receptacle and chamber 60 having closable openings and mechanisms operable automatically upon registration of these openings. A Shifter rod, Fig. 7 (not shown) carried by the blower, is moved by trip fingers 94, attached to a trackway 52 along which the blower moves to operate a normally closed movable door 70 via a mechanical connection which includes star wheel 92, bell crank; cam 86 in Fig. 8 (not shown) and link 73. Projecting from receptacle C is an actuating arm 126 connected to a door 115, Figs. 2 and 4, which arm is engaged by abutment 130 attached to chamber 60, causing the arm momentarily to open door 115 as chamber 60 moves adjacent receptacle C. A spring 123 returns and maintains the door 115 in the closed position as chamber 60 moves beyond receptacle C.
