Abstract
852,045. Oxygen lances. BOT BRASSERT OXYGEN TECHNIK A.G. Oct. 9, 1957 [Oct. 13, 1956], No. 31602/57. Class 51 (1). The convergent - divergent nozzle of an oxygen lance has a solid tip 3 and guides 6, 7, 9 between the inner tube 1 and outer tube 4 to provide two annular passages for the coolant. The guide tubes 6, 7 are telescopically connected and the guide 9 within the end of the nozzle is of streamline section and is secured to the inner tube 1. Spacers 8 maintain the guide tubes 6, 7 coaxial with the oxygen supply tube. The telescopic joint between the tubes 6, 7 prevents their warping under thermal stresses, and enables the cross sectional area of the coolant passages to remain unaffected by heating the tip of the nozzles.
