Abstract
In a process for the production of fine threads by dissolving a polymer of an aliphatic olefin having from 2 to 5 carbon atoms, having a molecular weight of more than 70,000 and having been prepared by a low pressure polymerization process in a paraffin hydrocarbon oil and/or a naphthene hydrocarbon oil, having a viscosity of from 1 to 6 DEG Engler at 50 DEG C. to form a solution having a polymer concentration not exceeding 18% and spinning the solution as described and claimed in the parent Specification, a modification comprises spinning the threads into a water bath at from 5 to 45 DEG C. and extracting the solvent with methylene chloride in two subsequent washing stages with interposed initial stretching and subsequent final stretching. The temperature of the water bath is preferably from 10 to 35 DEG C. while the threads may be initially stretched between the two washing stages in a hot water bath.
