Abstract

851,954. Band clips. AEROQUIP CORPORATION. Oct. 27, 1958 [Nov. 25, 1957], No. 34374/58. Class 44. A clamp comprises a band 15 with one or a pair of slots 57 adjacent one end and integral hooks 43 at the other to engage the slots. The band 15, which may have jaw segments 13 welded to its interior surface, is clamped to, for example, the end flanges of two aligned pipes 11 by a nut 26 on a T-bolt 20 the head 21 of which engages a birfurcated strap 29 attached to the band adjacent the hooks 43 and the shank 22 thereof passing through a hole 27 of a T-sleeve 23 which has two trunnions 24 engaged by a strap 28 attached to the band adjacent the slots 57. The shank 22 also passes through a slot 54 of a keeper 52 formed integrally at the end of the band adjacent the slots 57, the slot 54 allowing the keeper to be raised clear of the bolt. The keeper 52 retains the hooks 43 in the slots 57 and has a portion 53 engageable by a tool to effect release of the clamp. On tightening the nut 26 the straps 28, 29 are drawn towards each other, and the hooks 43, being arcuately-shaped at 46, raise the keeper so that they can enter the slots 57. The faces 45 of the hooks are slightly inclined, and a collar 25 is interposed between the T-sleeve and the nut 26.
